A brief, uplifting letter from a Food Pantry Client dated December 21, 2020. Through all the sadness and difficulties the world is going through, it is heartwarming and encouraging to know that there are truly good people all around us.
I’d like to thank you for the assistance I’ve received from the food pantry. Today I was on the way to ask for assistance again. Before coming by I did grocery shopping for others but had no money to pay for mine. I had just sold some [of my belongings] and stopped by the bank to deposit the money so I could pay bills. I was shocked to find my claim for Veterans benefits had come through after years of fighting. At least some came through, enough so I am enclosing a check for $120. If someone needs help with a bill over the amount, please call me. I would like to help. I’ll leave it up to God to give you guidance on who needs the help.
God bless you,
Suzanne
(Suzanne is a 66-year-old single woman taking care of her adult disabled son who lost her job due to the pandemic.)
“He sat down opposite the treasury and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents. Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them, “Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. For they have all contributed from their surplus wealth, but she, from her poverty, has contributed all she had, her whole livelihood.”
