Elementary Faith Formation

Our Elementary Faith Formation Program is a vibrant beginning to your child’s lifelong journey of faith. Each year, we seek to nurture and build upon a strong foundation of faith that will support your child as he or she grows to know, love, and serve Jesus.

We are called to partner together—parents, families, and our faith community—as we teach, inspire, and encourage your children to develop a lifelong love of Jesus.

Elementary Faith Formation provides catechesis for children in kindergarten through 5th Grade. Our primary resource is Finding God: Our Response to God’s Gifts from Loyola Press, along with additional resources from the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston.

Classes are offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the following times:

• 4:00–5:15 p.m.
• 5:45–7:00 p.m.
• EFF classes follow the FISD and CCISD school year calendars

Arrival, Dismissal, and Early Dismissal Procedures

We will begin in the Mini Hall and then proceed to the individual classrooms.

• Students in Kindergarten through 3rd grade must be escorted into and out of the building. An Exit Ticket is required.
• Students in 4th and 5th grade may be dropped off and picked up under the covered area. An Exit Ticket is required
• Early dismissals require permission from the EFF Director. The catechist must also be notified, and parents must follow the required Exit Ticket procedure.

We also offer a Home Study Program, which provides families with the opportunity to make faith formation a meaningful part of their home life. Parents serve as the catechists, presenting the lessons and materials to their children at home. Families then participate in scheduled meetings throughout the year with our Faith Formation staff to review lessons, receive support, and remain connected to our faith community.

STUDENTS RECEIVING SACRAMENTS

The Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston requires that children participate in two consecutive years of Faith Formation as part of their preparation for the Sacraments. This may include Faith Formation through Elementary Faith Formation (EFF), a Catholic school, or another approved preparation program.

This builds the foundation for children as they continue their faith journey.

If your child (typically 2nd grader) is eligible for Fist Reconciliation and First Holy Communion, we will email out the registration form and guidelines for the year of preparation.

Children who are older and have not yet received their First Reconciliation and/or First Eucharist will receive individualized preparation based on their needs and circumstances.

All students entering sacrament preparation for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion must submit a copy of their Baptismal Certificate.
